Guys, I am in touch with Chevrolet complaint department now and they are taking their time to get back to me. I shall post their reply here once I receive it. Genuinely disappointed on this issue though and surprised that company still has not addressed this issue. I am also thinking to contact media and some really good solicitors. please keep checking this site and keep posting any info you have regarding this issue.

Same thing happened to me a week ago. We were 4 persons in the car and as I tried to change gear to start a mild hill in a very busy urban area I heard a crack and stopped the car immediately. I consider my self lucky no one got hurt and called the tow truck. The day after the car was taken to the supplier in Malta and next day they told me that some modification had been done by the company to the new pedal fitted and I got it back repaired under the garantee. This is a one driven car with only 8500KM. They told me the same thing had already happened to others at the agent, and the tow man said he had the same problem call the day before. The front man at the agent said that as yet no recall had been ordered by the mother company, but i find that plastic in such a vital part is too weak and should be changed to a more strong material before sombody gets killed or injured. That is why I called myself Lucky Me.

The exact same thing happened to my mum on the 21/08/13! She owns a 2010 Chevrolet Spark that's warranty expired in March this year. Again full plastic lever and pedal snapped off at a busy junction, luckily she was just setting off, but she had my sister and 5 year old nephew in the car - dread to think what could have happened had they been on the motorway. We have been quoted a price by our local garage (very reliable and reasonable used for years) of £470 to repair but on reading this am going to contact Chevrolet.

Syed 3211 how have you got on with your complaint to Chevrolet - cannot believe they have not done a recall with this number of problems. Am going to contact watchdog to make them aware and see if they would be willing to take the issue on.

Same thing has happened to my Spark last night. The whole clutch pedal snapped and fell off. Very scary as i was trying to get out of a car park and had a line of cars behind me. Thank goodness i wasn't on the motorway with my kids as I dread to think what could have happened. Unfortunately for me my car is not within the 3 year warranty. It is a 2010 model. Am ringing the dealer today to see what can be done, as this is surely a safety issue.

Rang Chevrolet uk today about the clutch pedal problem, they told me they have not had any reports what so ever about the clutch pedal falling off. I stated the fact that other spark owners have had this problem, and also it could be a danger to myself and other road users if it happened to me. there response was if it happens to you and the car is still under warranty just take it back to a chevy dealership. they also said there is no recall on the spark.

I am absolutely disgusted on GM as a company, I have been in touch with them ever since I had this problem. I would strongly recommend you all to chase them for any update. Recall of this bloody product is important before someone get involve in a major accident..... Never ever buying any of GM rubbish again in my entire life.

paulac : I have received very sarcastic reply from them, lady actually mentioned that my car is out of warranty and Chevrolet has covered all costs. Still no reasonable answer about recalling this product.

chevroletcustomercare@gm.com This is the e-mail address I have been in touch with them. How about you all drop them a message about your true feeling on this case. I am also contacting local press on receiving response.

I am from Malta and I am absolutely disgusted my clutch pedal fell off today. Just broke away in the middle of a busy road! The tow person who came for me told me that this is not the first time that he had towed a chevrolet spark because of a broken clutch pedal, and he also told me that the person had crashed badly. I would have done to if I had not been going in traffic at a slow pace.
